first words
These are my first words in this form. There are first words of every kind spoken by people each day, though hardly ever is there anyone who is around to listen to them, or sometimes even willing to listen. What comes to mind for most people when concerning first words are those of a baby who has finally breeched the barrier that has kept him from communicating in our recognized spoken word. This is always a remarkable phenomenon for all those surrounding the child, for it is the promise of future progress and eventual assimilation into society. But that whole idea of becoming a part of the overall population in its monotonous and generally insignificant daily qualms is a rather depressing idea to me. What's worse is that after that initial word and the short period of time of learning one's native language there seems to be no though of the other times we speak. As we continue to age it seems that friends pay less and less attention to what we say, no matter how insignificant or otherwise important. Each of us does it - we ignore the ones closest to us because we get absorbed in our problems or we simply become numb to what once mattered to us. It is a cycle that never turns out well for any one involved. So what am I even trying to say or get out? It's hard to explain. Do you ever just feel completely ignored and oblivious? I do constantly and it isn't just the little things that people don't notice you saying or doing that hurts the most, especially as the vast majority of our actions and words are insignificant in day to day life. It is the silence that sometimes wraps itself around you and keeps you from saying what you truly feel. Maybe it is feeling that no one really cares that they have their own things to worry about that keeps people from truly saying how they feel, speaking their minds - possible their first completely honest words to themselves and others. No one should feel so alone that silence is the only answer. We have been given the ability to communicate and speak our minds if only we have the faith and true desire to do so. I nearly ever completely say what I mean, in fact, for most of my life it seems that the friends that were supposed to be my best and dearest have never heard the true me, have ever known who I really am and have been wanting to say for myself. there have been so many times that I myself and i can only assume other people have wanted to speak out for the first time about some issue or opinion but it never happens for the lack of listeners or the fear of criticism. this should not be. We should be there to listen and hear all the ideas that are swirling around inside people's minds. People are trying to say things all the time, whether in their pain and suffering or in their joy, but if no one is willing then they will ever be silent first words.
